Previous Tentative Ruling:

On April 2025, Plaintiff Vanessa Kaskiris served Requests for Production of Documents, Set One on Defendant The Regents of the University of California.

Defendant served responses and documents on September 9 & 17, 2025, verifications on October 6, 2025, amended responses on November 19, 2025, and a partial supplemental production on December 15 & 16, 2025. (Candappa Decl. ¶¶ 9 – 16.)

Thereafter, the parties met and conferred via email and telephone regarding the outstanding documents, but no supplemental production has been produced. (Candappa Decl. ¶¶ 17 – 19.

On February 13, 2026, Plaintiff Vanessa Kaskiris filed a Motion to Compel Further Discovery Responses. Specifically, Plaintiff requested the court compel Defendant to provide further responses to Plaintiff’s Request for Production of Documents, Set One, Nos. 4, 6, 12, 14,16, 18- 34, and 40-42, compel Defendant’s compliance as to Defendant’s responses to Plaintiff’s Request for Production of Documents, Set One, Nos. 18-33, and 40-42, and compel Defendant to produce all non-privileged responsive documents.

On February 25, 2026, Defendant filed its opposition stating that they agreed to produce the full production, and intend to comply, but due to understaffing issues, there have been unavoidable delays. (Trimble Decl. ¶ 5.) Defendant alleges that the production will be complete within 90 days.

On March 2, 2026, Plaintiff filed her Reply claiming that Defendant has not provided verified responses confirming compliance and has not completed its production.

Trial in this case is set for September 28, 2026.

The Court CONTINUES the motion to June 2, 2026, at 2:30 pm in Dept. 518. The Court expects that Defendant will have completed its production before this date.
