Motion for Protective Order
23CV030246: HENLON, et al. vs KAISER PERMANENTE INTERNATIONAL, et al. 07/17/2026 Hearing on Motion for Protective Order filed by LAVINIA HENLON (Plaintiff) CRS# 265141319944 in Department 520
Tentative Ruling - 07/14/2026 Jamilah A. Jefferson
Plaintiff's Motion for Protective Order is CONTINUED TO September 10, 2026.
This Motion appears to be related, in large part, to the medical provider subpoenas that are outstanding and part of Defendants' Motion to Compel Medical Records set for hearing on July 17, 2026.
Given that the Court has narrowed the scope of the subpoenas, the Court anticipates that the parties can use the narrowed scope as guidance for other discovery sought related to medical records.
The Court further anticipates that some (or all) of the issues related to the pending discovery that is the subject of the Motion for Protective Order are (or will be) moot in light of the Court's Order on Defendants' Motion to Compel Medical Records.
In advance of the continued hearing on Plaintiff's Motion for Protective Order, no later than September 4, 2026 (with courtesy copy directly to Department 520), the parties shall file a joint separate statement regarding what remains at issue underlying the Motion for Protective Order. No further opposition is necessary in advance of the September 4, 2026.
The parties shall meet and confer in person or by zoom (audio and video) in advance of and in preparation for the joint separate statement to be filed on or before September 4, 2026.

The Court notes that all future discovery hearings will be held in person.
