With respect to the tentative ruling below, no notice of intent to appear is required. If you wish to submit on the tentative ruling, you may email Courtroom20@ventura.courts.ca.gov with all counsel copied on the email. Do not call in lieu of sending an email. If you submit on the tentative without appearing and the opposing party appears, the hearing will be conducted in your absence. If you are the moving party and do not advise the Court that you submit on the tentative, or you do not appear at the hearing, the Court may deny your motion irrespective of the tentative.

Unless stated otherwise at the hearing, if a formal order is required but not signed at the hearing, the prevailing party shall prepare a proposed order and comply with CRC 3.1312 subdivisions (a), (b), (d), and (e). The signed order shall be served on all parties and a proof of service filed with the court. Motion: Plaintiff Grant Glover’s (“Plaintiff”) Motion to Compel the Deposition of Ronald Jenkins and Request for Monetary Sanctions

Tentative: Plaintiff’s unopposed Motion to Compel the Deposition of Ronald Jenkins is GRANTED: Defendant Ronald Jenkins shall appear for his deposition on or before August 31, 2026, on ten days’ notice by Plaintiff. Plaintiff’s counsel has established that Plaintiff made multiple attempts to schedule Defendant’s deposition without success (Erickson Dec., ¶¶ 5-12) and that Plaintiff failed to appear for his April 27, 2026 deposition, without explanation. (Erickson Dec., ¶¶ 14-16, Exhs. 10-11.) The Court finds that there is good cause to proceed with Defendant’s deposition. (Code Civ. Proc. § 2025.450.)

Plaintiff’s Request for Monetary Sanctions against Ronald Jenkins is GRANTED as follows: Sanctions in the amount of $1,863.25 (($400.00 x 3.3 hours) + 543.25 in costs) are awarded in favor of Grant Glover and against Defendant Ronald Jenkins; said sanctions to be paid to counsel for Plaintiff on or before September 4, 2026.
