Notice Of Motion And Motion To Compel Deposition And For Sanctions
Matter on calendar for Monday, July 14, 2026, Line 5.1, Plaintiff's unopposed motion to compel Defendant to provide deposition testimony is granted.
Defendant is ordered to attend a deposition at such date and time duly noticed by Plaintiff and provide sworn testimony. Defendant failed to provide any justification for her failure to attend her duly noticed deposition on May 20, 2026 or June 5, 2026, therefore, sanctions in the sum of $2245 ($1185 in court reporter costs, $1000 in attorney's fees, and $60 filing fee) are granted.
Plaintiff shall submit a proposed order granting the motion. The proposed order need not include the verbatim language from the tentative ruling.
For the 9:00 a.m. calendar, all attorneys and parties may appear in Department 301 remotely or in person. Remote hearings will be conducted by videoconference using Zoom. The subject line of the email shall include the line number, case name and case number. The text of the email shall include the name and contact information, including email address, of the attorney or party who will appear at the hearing.
The court no longer provides a court reporter in the Law & Motion or Discovery Department. Parties may retain their own reporter, who may appear in the courtroom or remotely. A retained reporter must be a California certified court reporter (CSR), for only a CSR's transcript may be used in California courts.
