The board may adopt rules prescribing the method for payment of a fee for a permit issued by the department that authorizes the operation of a vehicle and its load or a combination of vehicles and load exceeding size or weight limitations. The rules may:

(1)authorize the use of electronic funds transfer or a credit card issued by:

(A)a financial institution chartered by a state or the federal government; or

(B)a nationally recognized credit organization approved by the board; and

(2)require the payment of a discount or service charge for a credit card payment in addition to the fee. Added by Acts 1997, 75th Leg., ch. 515, Sec. 2, eff. Sept. 1, 1997. Amended by:
