(a)A person must register under this chapter before the person may conduct the business of a mortgage banker in this state, unless the person is exempt under this section or Section 157.004.
(b)To register under this chapter, a mortgage banker shall:
(1)enroll with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry;
(2)be in good standing with the secretary of state;
(3)have a valid federal employer identification number;
(4)meet the qualification requirements for a mortgage banker;
