(a)This section applies only to a person appointed to fill a vacancy in an office covered by this subchapter who, at the time of appointment, does not hold another office covered by this subchapter.

(b)Notwithstanding Section 253.153, a person to whom this section applies may accept political contributions beginning on the date the person assumes the duties of office and ending on the 60th day after that date. Added by Acts 1997, 75th Leg., ch. 552, Sec. 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1997. Amended by:
