11-582. Qualifications; salary A. No person shall be eligible for the office of public defender or deputy public defender unless he is an attorney at law, licensed and in good standing in this state. B. The public defender shall receive that salary which the board of supervisors shall determine, provided that it shall be not less than seventy per cent of that paid to the county attorney. C. The board of supervisors shall not pay a salary to any person as public defender or deputy public defender who is not eligible for the office.
