View on leginfo.ca.gov(a)Except as provided in Section 34686, a private carrier of passengers shall not operate a motor vehicle on any public highway in this state unless its operation is currently registered with the department. The department shall grant registration upon the filing of the application and the payment of the fee as required by this division, subject to the private carrier of passengers’ compliance with this division. A private carrier of passengers who is exempt from registration need not file a notice of exemption.
(b)To satisfy the registration requirement described in subdivision (a), a private carrier of passengers shall submit required fees and all of the following information and documents to the department:
(1)The carrier identification number issued to the applicant by the Department of the California Highway Patrol.
