View on leginfo.ca.govA “911” call, as described in Section 2896.1 of the Public Utilities Code, from a commercial mobile radio service telecommunications device may be routed to a public safety answering point other than the Department of the California Highway Patrol only if the alternate routing meets all of the following requirements:
(a)The “911” call originates from a location other than from a freeway, as defined in Section 23.5 of the Streets and Highways Code, under the jurisdiction of the Department of the California Highway Patrol.
(b)The alternate routing is economically and technologically feasible.
