View on leginfo.ca.gov(a)The State Department of Social Services, in consultation with the Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs, shall administer a grant program that provides support and services to victims and survivors of hate incidents and hate crimes and their families and facilitates hate incident or hate crime prevention measures. The grant program shall prioritize victims, survivors, and vulnerable populations with high or increasing levels of hate incidents or hate crimes who have historically faced barriers to accessing appropriate care and services. In developing the grant program criteria, the department shall consult with the Commission on Asian Pacific Islander American Affairs and may consult with other state departments as necessary.
(b)The department, in consultation with the Commission on the Asian Pacific Islander American Affairs, shall develop a process to award grants to qualified grantees to be used to provide at least one of the following:
(1)Community-based supports and services to victims and survivors of hate incidents or hate crimes, and their families, which may include health care services, mental health services, and legal services.
