View on leginfo.ca.gov(a)A cremated remains disposer who stores cremated, reduced, or hydrolyzed human remains in a reckless manner that results in either of the following is guilty of a public offense punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or by a fine not to exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000), or by both that fine and imprisonment:
(1)Loss of all or part of the human remains.
(2)Inability to individually identify the human remains.
