In February 2014, a jury found Samuel Rudolph Hill guilty of three counts of
burglary (Pen. Code, § 459;1 counts 3, 5 and 7) and three counts of petty theft with a

prior theft conviction and imprisonment (§§ 484, 666, former subd. (b)(1); counts 4, 6
and 8). Hill waived his right to a jury trial on the allegations of prior convictions. In
March, the court found that he had suffered one strike (§ 667, subds. (b)-(i)) and had
