Motions to compel initial disclosures
Motion type
Ruling
(Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse: Dept. S27) September 10, 2026 DEPARTMENT S27 LAW AND MOTION RULINGS
compel initial disclosures, setting them for 9/10/26 and 9/22/26. The Court has briefly reviewed the motions and, while one motion is 15 pages long and the other is 14 pages long, the Court cannot find any meaningful difference between the two motions. The hearing on the 9/10/26 motion is continued to 9/22/26 so the two motions can be heard together. If Defendant files opposition to the motions, Plaintiff must highlight, in reply papers, the distinction between the two motions. Plaintiff is ordered to give notice.
Case Number: 26LBCV00267 Hearing Date: September 10, 2026 Dept: S27
Plaintiff's attorney, Harold Jasper of the Law Offices of Larry H. Parker, Inc., seeks to be relieved as counsel, declaring there has been a complete breakdown of the attorney-client relationship. Counsel declares he confirmed Plaintiff's address by certified mail, return receipt requested. Counsel must lodge a copy of the return receipt with the Court prior to the hearing or bring a copy to the hearing. If Counsel lodges a copy of the signed return receipt prior to trial, the motion will be granted, with relief effective upon filing proof of service of the final order on Plaintiff. If Counsel does not do so, the motion will be denied without prejudice.
Notably, Counsel also declares the address was "confirmed" by a TLO People Search, but these types of searches, while helpful for locating a person, do not provide conclusive evidence that a person resides at a specific address; the Court, therefore, does not consider the address independently "confirmed" due to the TLO search. If the parties submit on the tentative, the motion will be denied without prejudice. Counsel is ordered to give notice. | Home -->)" -->
