Judge Kevin C. Brazile Department 310 Hearing Date: September 10, 2026 Case Name: Kasaine v. Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, et al. Case No.: 25STCV05250 Matter: Notice of Related Case Ruling: The cases will not be related.

On February 24, 2025, Plaintiff Katano Kasaine filed the operative Complaint for (1) FEHA race harassment, (2) FEHA gender harassment, (3) FEHA race discrimination, (4) FEHA gender discrimination, (5) FEHA retaliation, (6) FEHA failure to prevent misconduct, (7) whistleblower retaliation, (8) violation of California Equal Pay Act, (9) IIED, and (10) defamation.

Defendant Metropolitan Water District of Southern California now seeks to relate this matter to case nos. 26STCV15010 and 26STCV19144.

The inquiry on a notice of related cases is whether the cases at issue (1) involve the same parties and are based on the same or similar claims; (2) arise from the same or substantially identical transactions, incidents, or events requiring the determination of the same or substantially identical questions of law or fact; (3) involve claims against, title to, possession of, or damages to the same property; or (4) are likely for other reasons to require substantial duplication of judicial resources if heard by different judges. (Cal. Rules of Court, rule 3.300(a).)

The cases will not be related. It is not apparent that there would be any benefit in hearing together cases of different employees against the same employer.
