(1) Motion to Compel Further Responses to Requests for Production (2) Motion to Compel Further Responses to Special Interrogatories The court considered the moving, opposition, and reply papers filed in connection with these motions.

DISCUSSION

Motion to Compel Further Responses to Requests for Production Plaintiff Jennifer Vasquez ("Plaintiff") moves the court for an order (1) compelling defendant Los Angeles Services Homeless Authority ("Defendant") to serve further responses to Plaintiff's Request for Production, Set Two, No. 54, and (2) awarding monetary sanctions in favor of Plaintiff and against Defendant. The court grants Plaintiff's motion to compel Defendant to serve a further response to Request No. 54 because the objections in the response are without merit. (Code Civ. Proc., Sec. 2031.310, subd. (a)(3).) The court grants Plaintiff's request for monetary sanctions. (Code Civ. Proc., Sec. 2031.310, subd. (h).) The court finds that $1,500 (3 hours x $500 per hour = $1,500 attorney's fees) is a reasonable amount of sanctions to impose against Defendant in connection with this motion.

Motion to Compel Further Responses to Special Interrogatories Plaintiff moves the court for an order (1) compelling Defendant to serve responses to Plaintiff's Special Interrogatories, Set One, Nos. 1-13 and 15-40, and (2) awarding monetary sanctions in favor of Plaintiff and against Defendant. The court grants Plaintiff's motion to compel Defendant to serve further responses to Special Interrogatory Nos. 1-13, 15-20, 22-23, 25-26, 30, and 33-40 because the objections to the interrogatory are without merit. (Code Civ.

Proc., Sec. 2030.300, subd. (a)(3).) The court denies Plaintiff's motion to compel Defendant to serve a further response to Special Interrogatory No. 21 because the interrogatory is overbroad since it includes information not relevant to the subject matter involved in this action and not reasonably calculated to lead to the discovery of admissible evidence. (Code Civ. Proc., Sec. 2017.010.) The court denies Plaintiff's motion to compel Defendant to serve a further response to Special Interrogatory No. 24 because the interrogatory is unintelligible.

The court denies Plaintiff's motion to compel Defendant to serve further responses to Special Interrogatory Nos. 27-29, and 31-32 because the interrogatories contain compound and conjunctive questions. (Code Civ. Proc., Sec. 2030.060, subd. (f).) The court grants Plaintiff's request for monetary sanctions. (Code Civ. Proc., Sec. 2030.300, subd. (c).) The court finds that $3,750 is a reasonable amount of sanctions to impose against Defendant in connection with this motion.

ORDER

The court GRANTS plaintiff Jennifer Vasquez's motion to compel further responses to requests for production. Pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure section 2031.310, the court orders defendant Los Angeles Services Homeless Authority (1) to serve on plaintiff Jennifer Vasquez further written responses, without objections and which comply with Code of Civil Procedure sections 2031.210-2031.250, to plaintiff Jennifer Vasquez's Request for Production of Documents, Set Two, No. 54 and (2) to produce to plaintiff Jennifer Vasquez all documents and things in defendant Los Angeles Services Homeless Authority's possession, custody, or control which are responsive to that request, within 20 days of the date of service of this order.

The court GRANTS plaintiff Jennifer Vasquez's motion to compel further responses to special interrogatories in part as follows. Pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure section 2030.300, the court orders defendant Los Angeles Services Homeless Authority (1) to serve on plaintiff Jennifer Vasquez further, full and complete answers which comply with Code of Civil Procedure sections 2031.210-2031.250, to plaintiff Jennifer Vasquez's Special Interrogatories, Set One, Nos. 1-13, 15-20, 22-23, 25-26, 30, and 33-40, within 20 days of the date of service of this order.

The court orders defendant Los Angeles Services Homeless Authority to pay monetary sanctions to plaintiff Jennifer Vasquez on these two motions in the total amount of $5,250 within 30 days of the date of service of this order. The court orders plaintiff Jennifer Vasquez to give notice of this ruling. IT IS SO ORDERED.
