Ruling

(Van Nuys Courthouse East: Dept. T) August 25, 2026 DEPARTMENT T LAW AND MOTION RULINGS If ALL parties submit on the tentative, then no appearance is necessary unless some other matter (i.e., Case Management Conference) is on calendar. It is not necessary to call the court to request oral argument. Oral argument is permitted on all tentative rulings.

Tentative ruling for 8/25: Ex parte application of Jason Barresi from Richardson, Fair &Cohen, house counsel for AAA, requesting a continuance of the trial in this case, an auto accident case, on October 28, 2026 because of a conflict that plaintiff's counsel has (no declaration from plaintiff's counsel and this is not an application by plaintiff) with a trial on October 12, 2026 in 20STCV38021 Moossazadeh v Avanti. It appears that defendant is using plaintiff's potential conflict to continue this trial. The court does not continue trials because of hypothetical trials as 95% of civil cases do not go to trial. If that trial starts and plaintiff's counsel is engaged, this case can trail. The parties were previously told this when the stipulation to continue was rejected. The application is denied. There is still plenty of time to get a medical exam. No good cause. | Home -->)" -->
