Case Number: 25CHCP00143 APPLICATION TO BE ADMITTED PRO HAC VICE Application filed May 13, 2026. MOVING PARTY: Petitioner Employbridge Holding Company dba Select Staffing RESPONDING PARTY: N/A NOTICE: OK RELIEF REQUESTED: Admission of Lars-Eric L. Hedberg, Esq. to appear as counsel pro hac vice. RULING: Granted.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION On May 13, 2026, Petitioner Employbridge Holding Company dba Select Staffing filed an application to admit Lars-Eric L. Hedberg, Esq. to appear pro hac vice in this action. On June 29, 2026, the Court continued the hearing. On July 8, 2026, Petitioner filed Hedberg's supplemental declaration and proof of service.
A non-licensee of the State Bar may appear as counsel pro hac vice in the court's discretion. (Cal. Rules of Court, rule 9.40, subd. (a).) An active State Bar licensee must be associated as attorney of record. (Id., subd. (a).) The applicant must file a verified application together with proof of service of the application and notice of hearing on all appearing parties and on the State Bar at its San Francisco office. (Id., subd. (c)(1).) The application must contain the recitals set forth in subdivision (d). (Id., subd. (d).) The applicant must pay the application fee set by the State Bar. (Id., subd. (e).)
Here, Hedberg is a non-licensee in good standing in Virginia and the District of Columbia. (Id., subd. (a).) He is not a California resident, regularly employed in California, nor regularly engaged in substantial business, professional, or other activities in California. (Id., subd. (a)(1)-(3).) Active California licensee Nicole A. Naleway (SBN 300701) is associated as attorney of record. (Id., subd. (a).)
The application states Hedberg's residence and office addresses. (Id., subd. (d)(1).) It states the courts and dates of his admission. (Id., subd. (d)(2).) It states his good standing in those courts. (Id., subd. (d)(3).) It states that he is not suspended or disbarred in any court. (Id., subd. (d)(4).) It identifies California counsel of record. (Id., subd. (d)(6).)
The deficiencies identified at the prior hearing have been cured. Hedberg states that he has not submitted any pro hac vice application in a California court during the preceding two years. (Supp. Hedberg Decl. P. 5.) He also states that the application was submitted to the State Bar and the required fee was paid on May 13, 2026, and he provides a payment receipt. (Id. P. 6, Ex. A.) Petitioner also filed proof that the application, notice of continued hearing, and supplemental declaration were served by mail on the State Bar at its San Francisco office. The requirements of rule 9.40 are satisfied.
CONCLUSION The application to admit Lars-Eric L. Hedberg, Esq. to appear as counsel pro hac vice is GRANTED. Petitioner is to give notice. | Home -->)" -->
