Ruling

CASE NUMBER: CVPG21-0031263 Disclosure Re: guardianship cases involving Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency-Judge Wood discloses that her step-daughter, Erinn Watts, is the Administrative Branch Director of the Health and Human Services Agency. In that position, Judge Wood’s step-daughter does not have any involvement in the investigation, management, prosecution or defense of guardianship cases. However, the Court makes this disclosure of an employment relationship between an investigating agency and the Court’s first degree relative as required by California Code of Judicial Ethics.

This matter is on calendar for hearing on a Petition for Termination of Guardianship filed by the mother, Michelle Orlando. At the last hearing, the Court dispensed with notice to the father. The Court also dispenses with notice to the maternal grandfather, and siblings Jace and Juliet. Proof of service has been filed for the guardians, minor, maternal grandmother, paternal grandparents, and siblings Grayson, Everleigh, and Aubrey. The matter has been properly noticed. No objections have been raised. The Court has reviewed and considered the Court Investigator’s report filed on August 11, 2026, and agrees with the recommendation to grant the Petition.

The Petition is GRANTED. A proposed Order has not been lodged. The mother shall prepare the order. The matter is continued to Monday, August 31, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Department 42 for confirmation of filing an Order on the Petition for Termination of Guardianship. If an Order submitted and executed prior to the hearing date, the August 31, 2026, hearing will be vacated. No appearance is necessary on today’s calendar.
