NOTICE:

Although remote participation is not required, the Court will presume all parties are appearing remotely for non-evidentiary civil hearings.

Once the form is signed it must be filed with the clerk. If a litigant has been granted a fee waiver and requests a court reporter, the party must submit a Request for Court Reporter by a Party with a Fee Waiver (CV/E-211) and it must be filed with the clerk at least 10 days prior to the hearing or at the time the proceeding is scheduled if less than 10 days away. Once approved, the clerk will forward the form to the Court Reporters Office and an official reporter will be provided.

Defendant Sacramento Downtown Arena LLC.s (SDA) motion to compel Plaintiff Charles Rileys initial responses to Special Interrogatories, Set One, is UNOPPOSED and GRANTED.
On September 23, 2025, Defendant SDA served Plaintiff Charles Riley, via email, with Form Interrogatories, Set One; Requests for Admissions, Set One; and Requests for Production of Documents, Set One. (Nott Decl., ¶ 2.) The initial statutory due date for Plaintiffs discovery responses was October 27, 2025. Thereafter, on November 26, 2025, Defendant SDA served Plaintiff, via email, with Special Interrogatories, Set One, and Requests for Production of Documents, Set Two. (Nott Decl., ¶ 5.) Responses to this set of discovery were due on December 30, 2025. (Nott Decl., ¶ 5.)
The parties stipulated to several extensions, with a final extension setting a January 23, 2026 deadline for all outstanding discovery responses. (Nott Decl., ¶¶ 3-7.) Plaintiff Charles Riley did not serve any discovery responses by the January 23, 2026 deadline. (Nott Decl., ¶ 9.)
Defendant SDA filed the instant motion requesting an order compelling Plaintiff Charles Riley to serve initial responses to Special Interrogatories, Set One. Plaintiff Charles Riley did not file an opposition.
Accordingly, pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure section 2030.290(a), (b), the Court grants Plaintiffs Motion to Compel Initial Responses to Special Interrogatories, Set One.
Plaintiff Charles Riley shall serve verified initial responses, without objections, to Defendant

SDA no later than August 19, 2026.
Defendant also requests monetary sanctions in the amount of $320.00 for this motion (1/10th of the requested $3,250 for interrogatory motions (10 motions total)). Because Plaintiff did not oppose the instant motion, the Court declines to award sanctions.
