This case is an asset forfeiture action pursuant to Health and Safety Code section 11470. The Petition for Forfeiture was filed on May 18, 2021. There has never been a case management conference set for this case.
Petitioner now moves to have this case set for trial on May 11, 2026, short of the limitations [period] of Code of Civil Procedure section 583.360. (Mot. 4:1-2.) Petitioner states asset forfeiture cases in Sacramento County typically resolve short of trial or by short cause trial and requests that the case be exempted from case management review under CRC 3.735(b) since all investigation and discovery have been completed.
The motion is unopposed, and the Court finds good cause to set the matter for trial. However, short cause matters are scheduled for trials on Thursdays (except for the second Thursday of each month). Accordingly, the Court sets this case for short cause trial on May 7, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Department 17A of the new Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye Courthouse located at 500 G. Street, Sacramento, California.
This minute order is effective immediately. No formal order or other notice is required. (Code Civ. Proc., § 1019.5; CRC 3.1312.)
This case has been assigned to Department 47 for hearing. In the event that either party requests a hearing the matter will be heard at 9:30 a.m. in Department 47. Any party requesting an oral argument must contact the clerk at (916) 874-5487 and opposing counsel or parties in pro per by 12:00 p.m. on the court day before the hearing. If a proper request for hearing is not made, this shall become the order of the Court.

If a litigant has been granted a fee waiver and requests a court reporter, the party must submit a Request for Court Reporter by a Party with a Fee Waiver (CV/E-211) and it must be filed with the clerk at least 10 days prior to the hearing or at the time the proceeding is scheduled if less than 10 days away. Once approved, the clerk will forward the form to the Court Reporters Office and an official reporter will be provided.
