Motion to be Relieved as Counsel
24CV087843: ROBBINS vs VAUGHN, et al. 08/04/2026 Hearing on Motion to be Relieved as Counsel CRS# 364650860567 in Department 16
Tentative Ruling - 07/31/2026 Victoria Kolakowski
Andrew Jacobsons Motion to be Relieved as Counsel for Bruce Mac Vaughn, Samantha Vaughn, Dark Star Audio, Fierce Animal Recording, and Archon Records is granted.
The Court will sign the proposed order.
The Court denies Bruce Mac Vaughns request to stay this action for at least 60 days to permit him time to find counsel. The Court is unpersuaded that a stay is an appropriate remedy.
The Court notes that Dark Star Audio, Fierce Animal Recording, and Archon Records are general partnerships. A partnership is an entity distinct from its partners. (Cal. Corp. Code § 16201.) Accordingly, these partnerships must appear through a licensed attorney. (Cf. Clean Air Transp. Sys. v. San Mateo Cnty. Transit Dist. (1988) 198 Cal. App. 3d 576, 579 (finding that an unincorporated association is distinct from the individuals composing it and holding that unincorporated association must appear through a licensed attorney).) An attorney must appear for Dark Star Audio, Fierce Animal Recording, and Archon Records no later than 60 days after being served with this ruling and the order granting this Motion.
