Motion to be Relieved as Counsel
25CV127033: ANGELES vs THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA 07/30/2026 Hearing on Motion to be Relieved as Counsel filed by Trincy Lekshmanan (Attorney) CRS# 028126252258 in Department 20
Tentative Ruling - 07/28/2026 Karin Schwartz
The Motion to Be Relieved as Counsel filed by Trincy Lekshmanan on 07/06/2026 is Granted.
The motion of attorney Trincy Lekshmanan of the firm Trincy Lekshmanan Attorney at Law, PC to be relieved as counsel for Plaintiff Joel Angeles is GRANTED. (CRC 3.1362.)
The Court acknowledges the opposition to the motion and objections therein filed by Plaintiff Angeles filed on July 6, 2026, although it does not appear to have been served on Defendant or Plaintiffs counsel. The Court further notes that prior to the hearing on the motion, on July 27, 2026, pursuant to the parties stipulation, trial was continued from February 26, 2027 to January 7, 2028, with all pre-trial deadlines tracking the new trial date. The stipulation discussed counsels withdrawal. (7/27/26 Joint Stipulation and Order ¶¶ 7-8.) As such, it appears that any prejudice to Mr. Angeles is mitigated by the trial continuance which permits him to retain new counsel.
The court will sign Counsel's proposed order. (MC-053.) Counsel must serve the signed order upon Plaintiff, and file proof of service with the court. The order will become effective upon filing of the proof of service. (CRC 3.1362(e).)
Counsel shall make a reasonable attempt to notify Plaintiff of the Courts tentative ruling and the process for properly contesting by 4:00 p.m. one court day prior to the date of hearing.
If a party does not timely contest the foregoing Tentative Ruling and appear at the hearing, the Tentative Ruling will become the order of the court.
