The Motion to Compel Further Discovery Responses filed by Clearview AI, Inc. on 06/16/2026 is Denied.

The motion is DENIED WITHOUT PREJUDICE.

As an initial matter, Defendant’s motion is procedurally problematic. Defendant’s motion seeks further responses to Special Interrogatories, Form Interrogatories, Requests for Admission, and Request for Production of Documents as to six (6) different Plaintiffs. Defendant’s notice of motion makes clear that it is not seeking identical relief from each plaintiff. Thus, Defendants’ motion is essentially four motions to compel as to six separate plaintiffs. Unless the requests are so interrelated as to make separate motions wholly inefficient, this type omnibus motion is procedurally improper. (See Weil, et al., Cal. Prac. Guide: Civ. Proc. Before Trial (Rutter Group 2026), ¶ 8:1140.1.)

Second, Plaintiffs’ opposition briefing indicates that supplemental responses were served on July 8, 2026 and that these responses moot much of Defendant’s motion. Defendant disputes this contention in large part in its reply papers. However, the record at this point is sufficiently muddled that the court is not in a position to issue precise orders.

Given the procedural impropriety of the motion and Plaintiffs’ recent supplementation of their responses, the court denies this motion without prejudice to Defendant bringing renewed, more precisely targeted motions to address any ongoing deficiencies in Plaintiffs’ responses and document production. The motion to compel deadline would be pegged to Plaintiffs’ supplemental responses and/or verifications of same.
