7. PR0000965 In the Matter of Katherine Kimmel No appearances are required. The petition to accept transfer of this conservatorship is provisionally granted. A hearing is set for May 22, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 6 for review of the conservatorship and determination if modification is required to conform with California law. The court investigator is directed to complete an investigation pursuant to Probate Code section 1851.1 and report its findings prior to the continued court date. The clerk shall serve a copy of the minutes and order accepting transfer on the court investigator.

8. PR0000966 In the Matter of Bogumila Urszula Miernik No appearances are required. The petition to determine heirship under Probate Code section 11700 is denied without prejudice. Probate Code section 11700 provides:

At any time after letters are first issued to a general personal representative and before an order for final distribution is made, the personal representative, or any person claiming to be a beneficiary or otherwise entitled to distribution of a share of the estate, may file a petition for a court determination of the persons entitled to distribution of the decedent's estate.

Here, this Court has no jurisdiction to grant relief under this provision of law at this time. No proceedings to administer an estate have been commenced and no letters have issued. See, e.g., Smith v. Westerfield (1891) 88 Cal. 374, 380 (jurisdictional nature of statutory provisions related to probate); see also Cal. Prac. Guide: Probate, Ch. 15-E at 15:636 (“Petitions to determine distribution rights may be filed at any time after letters are first issued to a general personal representative and before an order for final distribution is made,” citing Prob. Code § 11700).

9. PR0000967 In the Matter of Kent Thomas Edwards No appearances are required. On the Court’s motion, the Court continues Tristan Roberts’ February 5, 2026, petition to determine ownership of property, etc., to July 10, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., in Department 6. Notice is defective. Probate Code section 851 requires that notice be served 30 days prior to the hearing on the personal representative, conservator, guardian, or trustee and each person claiming an interest in, or having title to or possession of, the property. See Prob. Code 851 (a) & (b). Here, notice has only been provided to the Nevada County Public Administrator, the statutory 30-day notice period has not been met (notice was provided on March 18, 2026), and it is unclear whether notice has been provided to all required individuals. Petitioner shall provide notice of the continued court date in accordance with statutory requirements.
