Ruling

23CV040445: TAY vs THE PERMANENTE MEDICAL GROUP, INC., et al. 07/09/2026 Hearing on Petition to Confirm Minor's Compromise with Special Needs Trust filed by Matt Zhi Tay (Minor) CRS# 579988316982 in Department 23

Tentative Ruling - 07/07/2026 Ruben Sundeen

Counsel for the Plaintiff is ORDERED TO APPEAR at hearing to update the Court regarding the probate petition for the establishment of a special needs trust.

The Court is inclined to grant the unopposed Petition of Amelia Lee for Approval of Compromise of Claim for Minor Plaintiff Matt Zhi Tay, subject to the filing of an amended petition as directed in the Court’s concurrently issued order addressing Plaintiff’s sealing motion.

The Court notes that the petition and related sealing motion were not filed or served in accordance with the statutory timeline set forth under Code of Civil Procedure section 1005(b). However, Defendants received electronic notice of the petition on 6/23/2026 and have not filed an objection or opposed this motion based on insufficient service. Accordingly, the Court proceeds on the merits.
