Kim moves to be Relieved as Counsel for Defendant United Security Specialist, Inc. (“USSI”) pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure Section 284(2). The Court has read and considered the motion, opposition thereto, and movant’s revised supplemental declaration in support thereof. (This motion does not pertain to or change representation of individual defendant Kyle Madej.)
Good Cause appearing, the motion is GRANTED. Movant shall give notice to USSI within 2 court days of the hearing, including the following:
Because a corporation may appear only through licensed counsel, the corporate party shall obtain substitute counsel, who shall file a substitution of attorney no later than 30 days from service of this order. USSI must appear at the Case Management Conference set for September 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in Department 12.* The corporate defendant is advised that it may not appear in propria persona through an officer, director, or shareholder. Failure to timely obtain substitute counsel may result in the striking of its pleadings, entry of default, dismissal of its claims, or such other sanctions as are authorized by law.
Movant to prepare the final proposed order, accompanied by the necessary Form EFS-020 within 7 days of the hearing. *December 16, 2026 case management conference will be vacated.
